Candice Hopkins and Raven Chacon

Candice Hopkins is a curator, writer and citizen of Carcross/Tagish First Nation. Raven Chacon is an artist and composer from Fort Defiance, Navajo Nation. They live in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Hopkins is Senior Curator of the Toronto Biennial of Art. Her writings include “The Appropriation Debates (or The Gallows of History),” (New Museum); “For Kaúxuma Núpika: A Brief History of the Fur Trade Between 1788 and 1820,” (Liverpool Biennial); and “Outlawed Social Life,” (South Magazine). As a solo artist, collaborator, or with Postcommodity, Chacon has exhibited or performed at Whitney Biennial, documenta 14, REDCAT, Musée d’art Contemporain de Montréal, San Francisco Electronic Music Festival, and 18th Biennale of Sydney. Every year, he teaches 20 students to write string quartets for the Native American Composer Apprenticeship Project (NACAP).
