Clarissa Brooks, based in Philadelphia, PA, has written for various publications on a variety of topics from pop culture profiles to investigative reporting on the deaths of black women and femmes. Following Toni Cade Bambara’s call to build a legacy of cultural work along with the movement journalism ethics of radical Black journalists before her, Clarissa seeks to explore the depths of Black cultural production to move marginalized people towards liberation. Brooks has had words appear in publications including New York Magazine and NPR. Brooks is a 2018 graduate of Spelman College, a child of Southern Black Movement work and a proud Afro-Carolinian. She serves as Editor in Chief at The Forge Organizing.
