Siobhan Burke
Siobhan Burke is a freelance writer living in New York City. Since 2013 she has been a dance critic for the New York Times and a contributing writer for Dance Magazine. She has written for Artforum, The Brooklyn Rail, Cultured, Harper’s Bazaar, Open Space, Untapped, The Village Voice, and other publications. She was a 2013 USC Annenberg/Getty Arts Journalism Fellow and received a 2018 Creative Capital/Warhol Foundation Arts Writers Grant. A former professional dancer, Siobhan grew up training in traditional Irish dance in Hartford, CT, and County Kerry, Ireland, and later shifted her focus to contemporary dance. She performed with the North American touring company of Riverdance and with artists including RoseAnne Spradlin, Jillian Sweeney, Rebecca Warner, and Narcissister. She appeared in the work of Yvonne Rainer as part of David Michalek’s 2017 film installation Slow Dancing/Trio A. She teaches at Barnard College.
